Harrah's CEO suggests legalized online poker a possibility

This morning's FY Q3 earnings call from Harrah's offered some hope for online poker players.

CEO Gary Loveman spoke of the possibility of seeing online poker legalized.

Not solely because of Tuesday's elections, Loveman said that he sees the possibility of legalized online poker simply because the heads of committees don't seem opposed to the idea.

"We think the world got easier on this one," he said.

As for other online gaming, Loveman still sees a tough battle.

But baby steps.

Free CardRunners and StoxPoker for playing Full Tilt

CardRunners and StoxPoker are offering free poker training online, just for playing poker.

The only catch is you have to play on Full Tilt (not much of a catch if you already play there), and you must earn 4500 Full Tilt points in a month to receive a free month membership to CardRunners (2500 points for StoxPoker). And best yet, you keep your points. All that's required is earning that many base points in a month.

You also need to be a current paying member of CardRunners or StoxPoker, which you can buy with Full Tilt points.

PokerStars offers freerolls to win piece of WSOP final table

november9.jpg

PokerStars is offering a chance to win a piece of the November 9.

The November 9, of course, is the World Series of Poker's final table comprising the nine remaining players that will duke it out on Nov. 9.

Stars has invested in six of the players, and will be hosting a $100,000 freeroll (500 FPP required for entry) for each player every Sunday beginning Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. ET.

PokerWorld.com to refund Bad Beat Jackpot share

Awhile back, PokerWorld.com removed their Bad Beat Jackpot from all of their poker tables (even though their website still says "Coming soon!").

A reason was not given, but PokerWorld is no longer contributing a share on the Gold Chip Network.

Where does that money go?

If you're Harrah's Las Vegas (which this month got rid of their property-wide bad beat jackpot that essentially copied Station Casinos'), you put the money back into each property and let that casino hold their own promotions.

CardRunners offers free 24-hour pass

Online poker training site CardRunners is celebrating their merger with StoxPoker by offering free limited passes.

We enjoy CardRunners videos (particularly GreenPlastic's) and have picked up a few tricks here and there that we still use today at the no-limit table.

To pick up your pass which gives you full access to the site for 24 hours, text "cardrunners" on your cell phone to 32075. You'll then receive a text back telling you to go to this link to register as a guest and a special code.

Offer expires Sept. 30.

Hockey pro Mats Sundin becomes poker pro

While the future of hockey player Mats Sundin is still up in the air, today he announced he'll become a professional poker player on PokerStars.

That's PokerStars.net, not PokerStars.com.

Stars has recently been signing sports stars not generally known for poker, such as Boris Becker and Orel Hershiser.

The former Toronto Maple Leafs captain will play online and live under the username MatsSundin and will travel Stars' global poker tour circuit, beginning with next week's European Poker Tour in Barcelona.
